Portrait of a Woman
Hardware Store
17.95″ Print, Smooth Matte Fine Art Paper 5.57oz, Black Matte Frame, Full frame size 22.44″
I was an early teen and my mom, a single mother, was doing some work on our house. We went to the hardware store for some lumber and other hardscaping materials. As we went to load the materials in the car, I realized that we had to get all of this heavy, awkward material home and that it was up to her and I to load and unload it. I think I was a bit incredulous, looking around for someone, anyone to help us lift and load this stuff. But my mom didn’t hesitate. She huffed, pushed, and hefted each piece into our midsized sedan, until it all fit. There was a single moment when it was finally all in that she looked at me just staring at her do this work where she paused, smirked, and said, “Lets go”. It was that moment that I realized nothing would ever stand in my way of success
